The world was shook a few days ago by the discovery that Kate Middleton has a three inch long scar hidden in her hairline. While the Duchess of Sussex is careful to keep her scar out of sight, her husband, Prince William, proudly shows off the the large scar on his forehead. While you may not have noticed the scar on the Duke of Cambridge's face - it has faded over time - he's had it for quite some time. When he was younger, it was much more prominent, so it was much too hard to hide. Prince William even jokes about the scar in interviews, going so far as to call it his "Harry Potter scar."
You can just make it out above his right eyebrow in this photo of a college aged William here:
During a 2009 interview, the future king of England revealed the backstory behind his prominent scar. "I call it [my Harry Potter scar] because it glows sometimes and some people notice it—other times they don't notice it at all," he explained. "I got hit by a golf club when I was playing golf with a friend of mine. We were on a putting green and the next thing you know there was a seven-iron and it came out of nowhere and it hit me in the head." Ouch! Do you think Queen Elizabeth banished whoever this "friend" was? Were they ever allowed near Prince William again? Or is totally fine because one day, when he sits on the throne, his crown will cover the scar?
In a photo from a few years - when William made the bold choice to grow out his beard - you can see the scar clearly:
While William's scar is from a sporting injury, Kate's is reportedly from a childhood operation, though no other details about the surgery are known to the public. Their scars are on the same side of their heads, as well, which is an interesting coincidence.
The couple who has matching scars stays together, right? Or am I getting that phrase wrong?
