When search for a place to settle down and call home, many factors may play into one's decision, such as safety and criminal activity, proximity to incredible restaurants and exciting nightlife, and access to quality health care or education. However, one of the biggest concerns when it comes to finding a home is the price. While there are plenty of more affordable places to live around the state, if you're looking for something a bit more extravagant, it will come with a heftier price tag.

According to a list compiled by Family Handyman, the most expensive neighborhood in all of Wisconsin is Madison and the 53726 zip code. The capital of the Badger State has a population around 273,000, a median home value of nearly half a million dollars, and was recently named the "most underrated" city in the entire state.

Here's what the site had to say about the most expensive zip code in the state:

"The capital of Wisconsin, Madison has a median home value of $493,500. It's best known for its domed Wisconsin State Capitol, which resides on an isthmus between lakes Mendota and Monona."
