Some of the best food you'll ever have can be found in restaurants tucked away from the well-traveled path, hidden gems waiting to show off a dish that you will remember for years to come. This is especially true for fried chicken, a meal so popular that many restaurants around the country have put their own twist on the dish.

According to a list compiled by Cheapism, the best "hole-in-the-wall" fried chicken joint in all of Wisconsin is The Dover Inn, a Kansasville that has perfected its take on the classic dish with its broasted chicken. Dover Inn, which has a 4.4 star rating on Google and more than 700 reviews, is located at 1909 N. Beaumont Avenue.

Keep reading to see what the site had to say about this spot serving "fantastic" fried chicken:

"Broasted chicken is big in the Midwest, and you can find one of the greatest versions at The Dover Inn. It's a typical Wisconsin tavern that's full of worn dark wood, Packers memorabilia, and friendly locals. The broasted chicken is highly seasoned with an uneven, crunchy coating and comes with fries or the specialty, potato pancakes. A dinner and buckets of chicken are served all the time, but broasted chicken is on special on Sundays."
