If you're planning on selling or donating your stuff, if it's really old, you should get it appraised first.

A family learned right before they re-sold their teapot for almost $500,000!

A 51-year-old British man was cleaning out his family's garage when he found a teapot his grandfather brought back during World War II. He was planning on donating it to a thrift store, but instead decided to appraise it and found out that it was one of three items known to still exist in the world.

The teapot was then taken to an auction where it was sold for $495,880.32. There was a bidding war between eight participants.
