Amy saw a video on social media about how cotton balls can help regulate the nervous system.
The video by Dr. Derya Anderson shared research indicates that right nostril breathing is associated with increased sympathetic activity, leading to heightened arousal, increased heart rate, and elevated blood pressure. While the left nostril breathing is linked to enhanced parasympathetic activity, resulting in relaxation, decreased heart rate, and reduced blood pressure. These effects are though tto be mediated by central nervous system mechanisms rather than direct anatomical differences. Adding that the nose makes sure you are staying balanced side to side by alternating which nostril is more open every 1.5-4 hours, this is called the nasal cycle. This mechanism can be disrupted, and when we start unconsciously favoring a nostril, it creates discord in your system. So Dr. Anderson suggests using the cotton ball to help make yourself feel better.
Amy wants the show to test this out the next time someone isn't feeling great. This conversation led into a hot topic about Eddie and his deviated septum. Bobby asked if he ever wanted to get it fixed and he said he would, but he doesn't really want to do surgery. However, he's open to the idea so Bobby is going to investigate as a potential segment idea. The other show members were skeptical because this is how the whole hair transplant thing started and he never did it.
