Chelsey's Weekend at Country Thunder 7/19-7/22

This past weekend was my FOURTH Country Thunder experience. Every single year is always so much fun.

Sam Hunt, Midland and Cale Dodds played on Thursday night to kick off the festival. The energy at Country Thunder on Thursday was unreal! We went out to listeners campsites to play dizzy bat and hand out meet and greets for all of the artists that day. Sam Hunt KILLED it onstage.

THEN! We surprised our listeners, Markie and Shawna, with BROTHERS OSBORNE! The bros crashed their campsites to play some flip cup and hang out before they had to hop on stage. We clearly weren't having any fun ;)

I normally don't freak out when it comes to meeting country stars... but Dierks Bentley is one of my all time favorite artists and I was able to meet him. Luckily, I was able to form sentences and show him my "i hold on" tattoo. He loved it and that made me love him more.

Day 3 of Thunder brings us to Toby Keith! One of my favorite moments of his entire set was when he brought a TON of veterans on stage. I had goosebumps and I'll admit that there might've been a couple tears that were shed.

Luke Bryan, Brett Young and Morgan Wallen helped close out Thunder on Sunday night. I had three observations on Sunday about all of them:

  • Morgan Wallen can pull off the mullet and mustache.
  • Brett Young continues to make me weak in the knees, no matter how many times I see him.
  • Luke Bryan is still serious about his hip shaking. I don't know if it's because I saw him in person, but it seemed like he was WAY more into it than normal.

Then during Luke's show, I was invited to sit onstage by Morgan Wallen's crew which was freaking AWESOME.

I can't wait for next year. Country Thunder announced that Chris Stapleton is one of the headliners for next year. You can already get your tickets at countrythunder.com.
