On Saturday, Chase Rice posted a video to his Instagram story from the stage at Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary in Petros, TN. The video showed a lot of fans cheering in close proximity to each other and a lot without masks.
Kelsea Ballerini is one of the artists that criticized Chase Rice for holding a performance during a pandemic. She said on Twitter, "Imagine being selfish enough to put thousands of people's health at risk, not to mention the potential ripple effect, and play a NORMAL country concert right now. @ChaseRiceMusic, we all want (and need) to tour. We just care about our fans and their families enough to wait.🤷🏼♀️"
A spokesperson for the venue said that "all local requirements were abided by and numerous precautions were taken."
