This week for Furry Fridays powered by Legacy Exteriors, I'm featuring Mavis!
“Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na, Bat Girl!” That’s what people sing when they see me coming. I don’t really understand why, but I’ve been told that my tall ears and the mask-like markings on my face have something to do with it. I’m a two-year-old Husky mix. I love playfighting and snuggling with other dogs. I’m good around cats, small critters, and goldfish (if you like that sort of thing). I’ve lived with multiple children and a teenager (if you like that sort of thing, too). I could run around the yard with them for hours. Except they usually give up sooner than that and come inside for snacks. That’s okay because I could eat or nap in front of the TV with them for hours, too. Indoor sunbathing is probably my favorite. Sunbeams through a window are the best! No, wait, getting slow and squishy face massages is my favorite. I could fall asleep sitting up if you give me one of those. And, hey, always feel free to take this show on the road because I’m an excellent passenger in the car.
One of the nice veterinarians who checked me out thinks that I used to be kept in a cage a lot of the time, but I’ve spent several months learning how to roam free in a home. Sometimes it’s still a little new but, boy, have I started to get used to it! When the beds and couches are off limits, I can respect that. I used to be a big hugger (literally, a hugger…imagine me standing up on my hind legs and wrapping my front paws around you), but I’m learning that not everyone appreciates a squeeze as an initial greeting, so I’ve spent months refraining from giving out free hugs. I also used to gobble up my meals in a panic, but now I understand the routine so I will “sit” and wait for the “1-2-3-okay” to eat instead. I’m almost fully housebroken and getting better on the leash. The humans I’ve lived with have told me they’re so proud of me and my progress. I’d really love the chance to make you proud, too.
