If you're like me, your eclipse glasses have been just laying around for the past few days. If want to, there's something you can do with them: Donate them!
An organization called Astronomers Without Borders is collecting eclipse glasses to give to kids in South America and Asia so that they can view the solar eclipses coming up for them in 2019! There are children who don't have access to things like eclipse glasses, so now they will get to share in the wonder of a solar eclipse too. How cool is that?
Here's the address for Astronomers Without Borders if you want to send them your glasses:
1010 South 48th Street
Springdale, AR 72762
Of course, if you want to keep them, that's fine too. As a keepsake, hey, why not? The USA will have another solar eclipse in 6 years, and NASA says if they are compliant with ISO 12312-2, then you can save and re-use them indefinitely.
HOWEVER, if the glasses have been damaged in any way, scratched, punctured, or torn, then discard them and do not use them!
