I grew up in Kansas. The first thing people think of when I tell them that is "The Wizard of Oz." The next thing they think of are tornadoes. It doesn't help that a tornado plays a significant role in "The Wizard of Oz."
The thing is, it's fair to associate Kansas with tornadoes. They happen there very frequently, and when you grow up around it, it becomes your way of life. It doesn't make them any less scary, but you just get used to the threat they pose every spring and summer. I've had many close calls over the years.
For me, it became a fascination. It's the fury of nature. So I can watch tornado videos all day. Last night, some terrible storms ripped through Kansas, whipping up some tornadoes in the process.
I stumbled across a website, Severe Studios, who has live dashcam footage from storm chasers out on the road. I sat there and watched for a long time. Right before I found that website, they chased this tornado. It's MASSIVE. Look at the clouds just churning around.
