Heartwarming: Backyard DJ Gets His Own Real Radio Show

I can't love this story any more than I do right now.

Deke Duncan is a 73 year old man in England, and he's had a dream his entire life of being on the radio. It wasn't possible, so Deke improvised. Back in the 70s, him and his friends created their own station in a shed in Deke's backyard.

Keep in mind, Deke's station does not broadcast, so it's not a pirate radio station. It's exclusively pumped into speakers into Deke's house. His wife and kids would listen to him, while him and his friends would run an entire radio station in the backyard. Music, commercials, jingles, news, interviews, everything. The commercials were for fictitious companies, the news about things in their neighborhood and in the world.

Check out this video from back then.

Since then, this has been just a super passionate hobby for Deke, until...

BBC Radio caught wind of Deke's awesome story, and they decided to give Deke his very own 1 hour Christmas special this year, actually ON the radio, broadcasting to the region.

They surprised him with the news, and you can see how much this means to him.
