Jif Peanut Butter Hilariously Settles How To Pronounce Gif

In a brilliant new marketing strategy, Jif Peanut Butter is aiming to settle the debate on how to pronounce the word "gif," which is short for Graphics Interchange Format, created in 1987. In a hilarious way to resolve this dispute, Jif is releasing limited-edition peanut butter jars with two different labels that display both pronunciations.

One is spelled GIF and features the sentence written below, "Animated looping images. Hard g pronunciation." The other label says JIF and below writes, "Creamy peanut butter. Soft g pronunciation."

Steve Wilhite, the creator of the looping image that has taken over the internet confirmed the word is pronounced with a "soft G" while accepting a Webby award in 2013, yet many people are still set in their ways and pronounce the word incorrectly with a "hard G".

The jars will are now available on Amazon for $10, just in time for National Peanut Butter Day coming up on March 1st, 2020!

Were you pronouncing it correctly?
