Reba McEntire shared a throwback clip of a performance with Vicki Lawrence on Sunday (September 28).
McEntire teamed up with Lawrence to perform “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia,” originally written by songwriter Bobby Russell and performed by actress, comedian and singer Lawrence in the early 1970s. Lawrence, The Carol Burnett Show star who was married to Russell at the time, scored a No. 1 hit with the song.
“We recorded the song nearly 20 years later and I had the pleasure of singing it with Vicki on her talk show in 1992,” McEntire shared in her caption on Instagram. “Talk about full circle!”
McEntire’s rendition of “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia” remains one of her biggest hits throughout her decades-spanning career. The beloved country legend is also known for “Fancy,” “Does He Love You,” “Walk On,” “Is There Life Out There,” “I’m a Survivor” (which served as the theme song to her early 2000s sitcom, Reba), and many more. McEntire’s latest song to release is “Trailblazer,” a collaboration with Miranda Lambert and Lainey Wilson. The trio delivered the world premiere performance of “Trailblazer” at the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards earlier this year in Frisco, Texas.
