Gen Z’s only a few years into joining the workforce... and they’re already ready to quit! A new PWC report spoke to over 4,000 U.K. adults and found that the pool of NEETs, which stands for “Not in Education, Employment, or Training” may be getting bigger.
According to the report:
- Almost 4 in 10 young workers are considering quitting their jobs and living off unemployment benefits
- Only 10% of the general working population are actively planning on quitting their jobs for good
- More than half said they thought about the decision or months before actually pulling the plug
What’s the reason for Gen Z preferring unemployment benefits over their salary? The report says that mental health is the “major driver” behind this new work trend. “I never spoke to my employer about [my mental health] until it was too late. If I’d spoken to them, they may have been able to support me,” one 23-year-old respondent said.
