These days, love is in the air at elementary school, as even kids that young have been known to say they’re “dating.” Most parents think it’s cute and harmless, so they don’t worry too much about their little ones having a crush on a classmate. But one mom had to get involved when her first-grader came home with an expensive piece of jewelry from her new boyfriend.
Allie Phillips recently shared the funny story in a TikTok video after her daughter returned from school with the news that she had a new guy in her life. The little girl previously had the same boyfriend, Brandon, since kindergarten and they were even planning to get married one day. But that all changed when the girl’s classmate, Trevor, asked her to be his girlfriend and gave her a ring to seal the deal - not a ring pop or a plastic toy one - this was a real gold and diamond ring.
“She broke up with Brandon, her kindergarten boyfriend of almost a year, for Trevor, who just rolled up with a ring,” the mom says in the clip. Knowing it must be someone’s ring, Phillips reached out on Facebook to see who might know Trevor and soon his mom responded. It turns out, the kid had swiped the ring from his great-grandma during a recent visit and the family had no idea. It’s now being returned to her and hopefully Trevor has learned not to give away family heirlooms.
